The BUNKA Program is unique in providing custom programs for schools, groups, or individuals looking for both a cultural and educational experience abroad. Our program is special in that we are committed to providing:quality homestay, formal English study, highly trained teachers, exciting activities, and a safe environment for all participants.
Quality Homestay
The BUNKA Program takes great pride in selecting appropriate host families. All host families have been interviewed and screened to ensure a high level of comfort and security. Homestay accommodations provide each student with a private furnished room, meals, and a secure family environment. BUNKA participants will have an opportunity to learn about Canadian culture, practice their English and make lasting Canadian friends.

Formal English Study
BUNKA provides formal English study in a classroom environment. Students will be provided with a binder and all necessary course materials. All instructors follow BUNKA program guidelines. Course materials are specially designed to incorporate new vocabulary and reading that relates to daily activities. Students can take their BUNKA course materials home upon completion of the program.

Highly Trained Teachers
All BUNKA study programs and tests are designed by our Director of Education. With over 30 years of teaching experience, the Director of Education ensures that all BUNKA instructors are well qualified with a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years related teaching experience. Due to our emphasis on small classes and qualified instruction, our programs provide a great deal of individual attention for each student. Our BUNKA instructors have experience with international students and are keenly aware of the challenges new students encounter in an English-speaking environment.

Exciting Activities
Our experience suggests that BUNKA participants actually learn more when challenged to take part in an activity or skill in English. Activity lessons can be an enjoyable and effective way to study English. When taken in conjunction with a study program, activity lessons can heighten the learning experience. We offer a wide range of activities from active sports (i.e. indoor rock climbing, horseback riding, hiking, swimming, etc . . .), to life experiences (i.e. cooking lessons, making pottery, photography, etc . . .). Participants can choose the activity that suits their interest and ability.

Commitment to Safety
At BUNKA, we are committed to making our program as safe as possible for all participants. Upon arriving to Vancouver, each BUNKA program participant is provided with a thorough orientation, an international phone card and local emergency contact information. All participants have access to a 24 hour phone line where they can talk directly to a BUNKA representative. Native speaking representatives are available to assist students, and a trained first aid attendant is on hand during all activities and program excursions. BUNKA representatives maintain daily contact with host families and students to ensure that each participant is getting the most out of their Canadian experience.
